You Don’t Have To Fall

I was speaking last week about a great promise of God for our life if we do what God tells us to do. Doing these things will keep you from falling from the graces of God in your life. In fact you can’t really expect to get anything from God if you don’t do what you’re told. Now the Lord sends rain on the just and the unjust. Somethings people get blessed with if they are Christians or not.

But as far as the promises of God the graces of God, the blessings of God the Bible tells us to do somethings, add somethings, to our faith, with the promise from God that if we will, we will never fall from the graces of God. Let me print what I’m talking about again:

2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2Pe 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
2Pe 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
2Pe 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
2Pe 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Pe 1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
2Pe 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
2Pe 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2Pe 1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

Again trying to keep this short. In these verses you have to add somethings to your faith. That is why I said before, you are saved alone by faith, but not by faith alone, you have to add somethings to your faith. This is why it is so important to have a knowledge of God and His Word.

Let me give you just one example of this and I will close this post. You would never know what God would do or what you should do to receive the graces of God if you are in a place of anxiety, fear or worry and are ignorant of the Word. Let me post the scripture:

Php 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The instruction for receiving the graces of God for a person who is plagued by worry and anxiety is not to get anxious for anything but instead to pray, all different kinds of prayer and make supplication, to entreat the Lord, make petitions to the Lord, make humble requests to the Lord for what you desire.

Then give God thanks for all the mercies and graces he has given to you, how good He has been to you in the past and present and what all He has done for you. Now if you will do your part by doing these three things God promises to you that the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension will guard you heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

You see many Christians today who will say I don’t know why God is allowing me to go through these problems or this mental anguish and why He is allowing me to suffer this way. You see it is a whole lot easier to blame someone else for our problems instead of taking responsibility for our own actions.

I can’t tell you how many times, and I’m closing now. How many times over the decades of my life I hear people blame God for their situations. Why did God allow my daughter to die, why did God allow my spouse and I to get divorced, Why did God not allow me to win the lottery now I can’t pay the mortgage.

It is not God’s fault for you being in the situation you are in, it is because you have not done what you are told to do. Don’t blame God, grow up and take responsibility for your actions, read the word, do the word, get to where you want to be and where God wants to take you today in this relationship you have with Him. If you do you will have a great day and you will never “fall”. It’s a promise of God!!! Have a blessed day.
