Ah, the Good Life…

Ah, the Good Life….

How do you categorize what the GOOD life is? How does God consider what the GOOD life is? Many today think if they have enough money, a good lady or man in their life, have homes, cars, good health, can do what ever they want that this would be the Good life.

If you did not have God in your life that would probably be about what this old world has to offer for a good life. What does the Bible say about a Good life for us?

Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Whether you acknowledge it or not you have an enemy that you must contend with in this life that wants to steal, kill and destroy every thing in your life to stop you from having the Good Life.

You can’t stop him with guns, Guardian alarm systems, or the police or even the the military forces of this world because this enemy has to be stopped another way:

2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
2Co 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
2Co 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

In order for us to experience this abundant life that God wants us to have there is going to be a fight and there are weapons that we need to use.

If you are going to fight an enemy you need training to prepare your self. You need to be strong and equipped for the battle:

Act 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Luk_10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

There is an abundant life that comes from God but this life is not one of mansions, opulent wealth, or problem free living, not one of perfect health or everyday is a holiday type of living.

This life that God gives, this abundant life from God is found right in the mist of trials, tests and tribulations of life. This abundant life is having a joy in life and being able to praise God and Worship God even if like Paul you are beaten and thrown in a deep dungeon of a prison inside of a prison.

The Abundant life is having a joy and peace in your heart that no matter what you hear, see or feel you are not moved by those things and begin to fear, worry, get depressed or give up.

This abundant life comes with the knowledge that God is on His throne, He loves you and is in full control today. But the Bible tells us something very important:

2Co_5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

This abundant life is not sensual, a life lived by our senses but is only attained by faith. Why are so many Christians not living the abundant life? They are living sensual lives and not walking by faith.

They are having conflicts, situations, circumstances, tests, trials and tribulations and are trying to deal with them by their senses and leaning to their own understanding and desires of the flesh and living a life that is not the abundant life.

Most people if they understood what comes with the abundant life would love to have it but they are not willing to die for it:

Mat_10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

A person must stop trying to pursue a life that is contrary to what God has for them. It is not the best life that God wants for you to have. God does not want your possessions to possess you. God tells us not to love this world or the things of this world.

With this abundant life you can see clearer and farther than you have seen before. What are some of these things you begin to see:

Col_3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

You see when you do this, you begin to:

Php_2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Php_2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

As long as a person is focused inwardly, focused on self, that person is a selfish person. But when they begin to focus outwardly, upon the needs of others and stop whining and crying about not having enough material things in this life, not a big enough home or a new enough car or enough money in the bank etc, when that crying baby, that ungrateful child stops thinking it’s all about them and that the world does not evolve around them then you can begin to get somewhere and start focusing on others which is part of the Abundant life.

Yes that abundant life includes your husband or wife’s life together also. I have seen husbands and wives bend over backwards trying to make their spouses happy but the spouses are so self centered, so selfish, that they are always the victim, problems, conflicts are never their fault, they never take ownership of a problem that it is THEIR fault for anything going wrong. Friend you can never experience the Abundant life God wants for you living life like that.

This abundant life is a life full of:

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23 gentleness, self-control.

We learn from scripture that it is not a life that you do not encounter tests, trials and tribulations if fact Jesus said:

Joh_16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

That word tribulation above means you are going to have pressure, affliction, anguish, burdens, troubles and things of this nature, yes the abundant life does not exclude you from these things but like the verse above says, that in Christ you will find peace as you go through these things.

I know some dear friends that are going through really hard times with husbands, wives, children and you know what? They for the most part are pretty good people in the eyes of this world. But they are having a hard time finding their way, their pathway to enjoying this abundant life.

Closing with this, it isn’t until we die to this old life that we are clinging to, that we can really begin to experience God’s abundant life:

1Jn_2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

When we begin to live for God and not self we begin to enjoy this abundant life afforded to us through Jesus Christ. Have a blessed day!!!
