Don’t Prove Me Lord

The dictionary defines proven as :

to subject to a test, experiment, comparison, analysis, or the like, to determine quality, amount, acceptability, characteristics, etc.:

When they build a bridge it has to be proven or tested to see if it will hold a load capacity. We have the seven mile bridge between Key West and the Main land. It had to be tested, it had to be proven to know if it would hold up under the heavy load and stress of vehicles.

I listen to people talk all of the time and I get to see how people are doing “under the heavy load”, the stress of things. How do they do when they are being tested and proven.

Listen to what God spoke to Moses:

Exo 16:1 Then they set out from Elim, and all the congregation of the sons of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt.
Exo 16:2 The whole congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.
Exo 16:3 The sons of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the LORD’S hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
Exo 16:4 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.

God’s people were crying out because there was an evil taskmaster, Pharaoh and his servants ruling and reigning over God’s people. The people are crying out to God because of their problems and God sends a deliverer with a staff in his hand by the name of Moses.

God tells Moses and the people he is going to give them their own land. A land flowing with milk and honey in other words a blessed land.

We see above where God had delivered His people out of Egypt using signs and wonders and miracles to bring deliverance to His people. But he used a deliverer to do this.

We see God bring deliverance again when God’s people are at the Red Sea being chased by Pharaoh and His army.

We have to recognize today when the Lord gives you deliverance in your life the devil does not give up and leave you alone.

He is constantly looking for a legal right in your life to steal, kill, and destroy.

So God has His Deliverer bring them to a certain place, at a certain time, with a certain test. God is trying to prove these people.

When tested or proven, what do they do? Now it has been a month since they had this great deliverance out of the hand of Pharaoh, this hard taskmaster.

After seeing God do all kinds of signs and wonders and miracles to bring them out of Egypt, even opening up the Red Sea so they could walk over on dry land and watch as God drowned their enemy underneath the waters of the Red Sea, only three days later, they begin to complain and grumble.

I listen to people grumble and complain all the time. The Bible says they complained against God’s chosen vessels who were being used to help prove them.

How many of you today know you need to be tested, proven? To see how you hold up under the pressures of life. The weight of your burdens. People will complain about church, pastors, teachers the very people God raised up to help them.

Exo 16:3 The sons of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the LORD’S hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

People are always coming up with a bad report, the negative, a place of no faith, leaning on their own understanding.

Now I’m no one to throw stones at anybody. I was saved at 17 but when tested I went back under the evil taskmaster of sin through my disobedience but God was gracious and delivered me.

You see when you are being tested and you have to live by faith, walk by faith, believe GOD is you provider, your protector, your shield, your high tower, your refuge and strength and a very present help in times of trouble we can give up and begin to look back like Lot’s wife at the old life if not careful.

You look back and you forget the pain and suffering of the old life and you remember the eating, the drinking, the laughter you had at times and you return like a dog does to it’s vomit.

It’s interesting that God did not just let His people go out of Egypt and they just all went what ever way they wanted. No God sent a deliverer to guide them in the way God wanted them to go. Moses was a type of Christ. Listen to Jesus:

Joh_16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

That word tribulation means you are going to have pressures, afflictions, anguish, burdens, troubles. Jesus said this is what you are going to run into in this world but he give a great promise when he said:

But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Rejoice this is the day that the Lord has made and you have a deliverer today, the Lord Jesus Christ.

You see right in the midst of the pressures, the anguish, the grumbling the Lord sent bread, called manna, sends it down from Heaven for the people to eat.

You see right in the middle of our pressures, our problems, our tests and trials, God sent to us the Bread of Life. It’s going to take us through the spiritual and physical problems of this life if we will taste and see that the Lord is Good. That takes faith in The Deliverer, and His instructions.

God said he was going to bring this about to test them and see if they would follow His instructions.

What is your life like? Is it just complaining all the time? Do you blame God for taking you to a place of being tested in order to get the garbage out of you that keeps you so miserable and deposit something wonderful in it’s place?

You see it is easy to take a person out of Egypt but not so easy to take the Egypt out of that person.

You see how we are as a people, we can be rejoicing, singing and dancing and playing the tambourines after God takes us through our Red Seas of life but three days later be complaining and whining about another matter. I guess that’s why we have Sunday and Wednesday church house

But seriously we are looking at our own selves here. God will take you through a great victory, do all kinds of signs and wonders, miracles even and give you a great deliverance from the hand of the enemy but three days later sometimes it is only one day later we are complaining again.

You can be in revival on Sunday and in misery on Monday if not careful.

How many times have you left church on a Sunday after praising the Lord, getting spiritually fed from the Word of God, had a little fellowship time with your brothers and sisters in the Lord just to find yourself grumbling and complaining on a Monday.

Let’s look at why God would give the Hebrews such a great victory and celebration at the Red Sea and then take them through the desert for three days only to find water that could not be drank.

Exo 15:22 And Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
Exo 15:23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, because it was bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah.
Exo 15:24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
Exo 15:25 And he cried to Jehovah. And Jehovah showed him a tree. And when he had cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a decree and a law for them, and there He tested them.
Exo 15:26 And he said, If you will carefully listen to the voice of Jehovah your God, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His commandments, and keep all His Laws, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am Jehovah who heals you.

I apologize I have make this to long today but I want to show you something today to help get our minds right about things that we go through, tests and trials that we go through.

So many times we get so busy just living life with all of it’s problems and cares, cleaning house, going to work, washing clothes, shopping, cooking, taking care of kids, family, going to church, dental and doctor’s visits, car repairs etc., that we need to get to a place of hearing God’s voice clearly, His promises clearly and understand why we are going through some of the things we are going through.

In the midst of what you are going through today you really need to embrace this promise because you just are not going to understand the “Why’s” of life many times.

But if you can believe that God is on His throne today. Is all knowing, all powerful, all present and know that He loves you and cares about you then you will know:

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

God bless you have a beautiful day… these tough, hard, difficult times have a way of working out for Good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
