Quenching

1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

You know people just don’t see things like this anymore. When we rebel and do not do what the Holy Spirit desires for us to do it is just like the sin of witchcraft. Just like practicing witchcraft.

You see to walk in the Spirit is to allow the Holy Spirit to do what He was sent forth to do in your life. When you do not do what the Holy Spirit desires to do you quench the Holy Spirit.

1Th_5:19 Quench not the Spirit.

This is like a fire that burns and someone throws water on it. The energy of the Holy Spirit, like a Pentecostal flame, is regarded as being capable of extinction.

How does that come about by sin and rebellion and refusal to allow the Holy Spirit to have His way in your life:

Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

When you stand in a place of unforgiveness, it’s sin. Rebellion being as the sin of witchcraft quenches the Holy Spirit. Stopping Him from doing what He was sent to do in your life. Are you quenching the Holy Spirit in your life today?

Do you wonder where the fire for God has gone? You need to examine your life to see if you have quenched the Holy Spirit in your life today.

There is a song we sing sometimes in church and it is called, Set a Fire. The lyrics say, Start a Fire down in my soul that I can’t contain and I can’t control, I want more of you Lord, I want more of your Lord.

Is that you cry today? Do you want more of God in your life today? Do you want that Pentecostal Fire burning in your life today? I’m not talking about a denomination or a certain kind of Church. I’m talking about the refiner’s fire inside of you, the Holy Spirit.

I’m talking about the fire inside that is alive inside of us. It is the fire of the Holy Spirit and it is at work mortifying, destroying the deeds of this body:

Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

It’s Sunday morning it’s time to go to the church building and praise and worship the Lord. All praise is worship but not all worship is praise.

To worship is to bow yourself down before the Lord and give Him the reverence and respect He deserves as Almighty God.

Now you can stay in your rebellion, your sin and quench the Holy Spirit or you can get up and go and praise the Lord and worship God with your brothers and sisters, repent of your sins and have the fire of God begin to burn brightly in your life again. What’s it gonna be friend?
