I believe there comes a time or times in people’s lives they just don’t know what to do. You just can’t fix the problem. What to do? What to do?
It might be a marriage problem, a health problem, financial problem etc. What to do, what to do? Let’s get some advice from the Bible for when we get into our situations in life.
We are going to take a lesson from Old King Jehoshaphat. He had made alliances with King Ahab which he should not have done. Be careful, be careful with whom you make friends with and whose counsel you listen to.
Jehoshaphat went into battle with Ahab and almost lost his life and if he had not called upon the Lord, surely he would have lost his life. But the Lord was not happy with Jehoshaphat.
Jehu the son of Hanani the seer and gave a message to Jehoshaphat. He said, the wrath of God is going to come upon you for helping those that hate the Lord, the ungodly.
We see the armies rise up against Judah and Jehoshaphat and King Jehoshaphat in great fear. Believing this to be the wrath of God that was going to be coming against him.
When you have done something wrong and it has taken you into something that is causing you great fear in your life, take a lesson today.
The first thing he did was to set himself to seek the Lord then, declare a fast throughout all Judah. Then Jehoshaphat did something very intelligent. He prayed, he called upon the Lord.
You see when fear comes upon you, it should drive you to your knees to pray. It appears that the armies were too big and the fear of this being the wrath of the Lord brought Jehoshaphat to his knees. And he prays about a 245-word prayer.
This was no, God is great, God is good and we thank Him for this food amen, type of prayer. Jehoshaphat pours his heart out to the Lord and the Lord hears.
The Lord spoke a Word to Judah and Jehoshaphat. Saying, not to worry because this battle belongs to the Lord, you will not have to fight.
You see fasting and praying does make a difference in our lives and the lives of others. You want the Lord to be with you and give you victories over your enemy? Pour your heart out in prayer before the Lord, repent and do what is right in His sight.
You might have to fight the good fight of faith BUT the battle belongs to the Lord. Victory will come if we have faith and believe what God tells us to do and then do it.
Listen to what the Lord tells them to do:
2Ch 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
We see there are instructions and a promise from God. They followed the Lord’s instructions and received the promise of God:
2Ch 20:20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
2Ch 20:21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.
2Ch 20:22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
You see when you are facing the enemy don’t forget to sing, praise and worship the Lord. They sang and praise the Lord and it says……and the enemy was smitten.
If you find yourself in trouble brought on by something you should not have done, don’t give up on God but instead run to Him and pour your heart out to Him. Pray and fast. Praise Him, sing unto the Lord, seek the Lord and you will find He will be right there for you.
Then do what His Word tells you to do and watch the Lord bring His help and deliverance. God bless you, come on out to church tomorrow, you will be glad you did !!
